(2-3 lbs.) Early Jersey Wakefield features heads 7” in diameter. Short stemmed with fine tender flavor. Resists splitting. 63 days. Plant early in greenhouse, or in ground after danger of frost.

Cabbage is easy to grow with the right soil and water conditions! Start indoors 6 weeks before last frost in northern climates or plant directly in the soil ¼ inch deep between 18-24 inches apart.  Plant into well draining nutrient dense soil with high organic content.  Keep the soil consistently moist for best results. About 70 days after the seedling sprouts the heads will be ready. Wait until the head is firm and solid, and harvest early in the morning for best results.  Head cabbage can be stored in a root cellar long term and is excellent preserved fermented into saurkraut.
