Kale growing info:
Kale is easy to grow in cold weather, in fact the cold weather brings out the sweet nuttyness of Kale that everyone has grown to love. You can start seedlings indoors and plant outside 3-5 weeks before last frost. For best results, cover with frost cloth in the event frost happens. If directly sowing, plant seeds 1/3 inch deep in well draining nitrogen rich soil spaced about 12-18 inches apart. If transplanting, give space of 18-24 inches apart to accommodate larger plants. You can harvest outer leaves as soon as they become big enough, and keep a continuous harvest going until the frost comes again. Kale prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Keep in mind plants that get less than 6 hours of direct sun per day will be much smaller.
