Turnip growing info:

Turnips are quick to mature and love cool weather. They are great for the beginning and end of the growing season.  This is one of the oldest domesticated crops having been grown by people for 3000 years.  The seeds are to be planted directly outside in the ground as soon as the ground can be worked, ½ inch deep and about 2 to 4 inches apart in rows about 12 inches apart. They prefer well draining but rich with compost soil.  Plant in areas with full sun and keep the soil evenly moist for even root vegetables. Harvest 5 weeks after germination or as late as 6-8 weeks for bigger roots. Both the greens and roots are edible with these highly versatile plants.
