As the name suggests this Italian style egg plant is long and purple. Roughly 2.5″ wide by 12′ long. Good flavor, heirloom variety.

  Eggplant is easy to grow and highly versatile in the kitchen.  The plant and flowers are also stunning.  It grows best in rich, well draining soil kept consistently moist.  Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the final frost and transplant outside about 24-36 inches apart when any threat of frost has passed.  Choose a full sun section of your garden for this! In warm weather, these produce prolifically, harvest often!  Best to harvest when they are full sized and the skin is shiny, before it starts to dull.  It does well companion planted with things like basil and beans.  Basil or other herbs provide organic pest support, beans provide nitrogen!
